The evening started out for me at Rattle 'n Hum Bar. As part of The third annual NY Craft Beer Week, they were hosting the folks from Escondido, CA's Stone Brewing Company. It sure was crowded. Forget getting to the bathroom in the rear of the bar—it was all I could do to get close enough to the bar to order a Stone Smoked Porter, my favorite beer of theirs. It's big and complex, with a not so subtle smokiness.

"P" and Dan arrived, and we motivated over to The Gingerman, which was also crowded, but not insanely crowded. Dan and I had the Smuttynose Imperial Stout. What a great beer! It's also Big and Complex, but much more malty than the Stone. This beer clocked in at a whopping 9.8% ABV. Definitely one of these will do ya.

We spent some time outside chatting with Kyle and Leon, who had come in from Jersey for Beer Week. New York City's a great place to grab a great brew and meet fellow beer lovers!

After a bit, it was on to the next hang... which turned out to be Heartland at the Empire State Building.
